I did Cara and Trey’s engagement photos and was so excited to then be able to be a part of their wedding. They had their wedding at the same location as their engagement photos… I just thought that was so special. Really, basically everything about their wedding was special. It was such an intimate ceremony with so much love. One of the reasons that I love wedding photography is because I get to stand back as invisible as possible and observe. The moments of love and happiness that I capture while quietly watching are my absolute favorite images from every wedding I shoot. There is nothing more special than the first moment the bride and groom see each other… the faces of joy on all of their loved ones watching the ceremony… the grandpa’s sneaking kisses from the little ones… and the loving moments that happen when everyone forgets that someone is taking pictures. I couldn’t exactly decide which images to share from their wedding so I had Stefan whip up a slide show to be able to show a few more than I otherwise would have been able to with just a regular blog post. We loved so many of these images it was hard to decide which ones to put in the slide show, so it’s a little long. If you have about 10 minutes to spare, grab a hankie and enjoy!

I just LOVED this session! I feel so lucky to have this job and am truly thankful for all of the wonderful people I get to meet and spend time with. This is such a great reminder that your children are NEVER to old to take some pictures with their mom! These two just adore each other…. it is adorable! I shut my pointer finger in my car door about halfway through this session. It was completely stuck in the crack in the door. I had to pull on the handle to open the door just to get it back out. Blood was involved, but I pushed on finished the session. I did not pass out or cry which still amazes me! There is no longer a fingernail on that finger, but heck…. it makes for a fun story!

Here is a session that I didn’t get around to sharing that I had done before Christmas. This family was SO much fun! I could seriously tell just how much they all genuinely loved each other and that was just awesome! I also got to spend some time with horses which I don’t get to do very often.

Well, this might just be my new BFF. She was absolutely perfect through the entire session… and we did a TON of backgrounds and looks. This is also the little one from the previous post ;0)

This is not a blink, people! She held this huge grin for seriously 10 seconds… Quite possibly the most adorable thing ever!

Here are some new goodies from Huggalugs and Noo. The Huggalugs leg ruffles are A.W.E.S.O.M.E.! You can order them online or if you are in the Harrison area swing by Shelby’s and grab a pair! This little one had a session a few days before the product shoot so be watching for her sneak peek… spoiler alert… they are unbelievably adorable!

And of course a few from my “go-to girl” who happens to work for cherry slushes ;0)

It’s funny how I sometimes completely overlook some very obvious great locations just because they are “normal” to me. I grew up swinging off of this old bridge on a regular basis. We would all stand on the low water bridge under it… grab onto a worn rope with a stick tied to it like a handle… and swing out over the water and drop precisely in the right spot between two giant rocks. SUCH an INCREDIBLY stupid idea now that I think about it! What the heck was I thinking?!?! Other times I would sneak away with my then boyfriend (now husband) and watch the fireflies light up the trees. We even rescued a poor little lonely puppy when we were down there once! The low water bridge is gone and a big new bridge built in it’s place… so no more swinging into the water (which is probably a good thing safety wise). I am starting to sound like an old lady with all this reminiscing! I am glad that Chelsey recommended this location and it was an absolutely perfect day for the shoot!

You may recognize this little sweetie from a few of my past blog posts and also from the top of the blog. I love watching little ones grow and change from session to session. I was shocked when she stepped out of the car and said “I had to get new shoes because the other ones were much too small.” Such a big girl sentence coming from such a tiny little person!

Austin| Alpena Senior 2010

January 19, 2010

Alright, I am going to try to catch up on blog posts that I have neglected to share over the past few insanely busy months. I have to admit that I don’t think I have ever gotten off of the main road going through Alpena, but Austin and his mom showed me some really cool places “off of the beaten path”.

Here is little Miss Kinley who came back again for her one year shoot! I could never get tired of her little squishy legs!

WooHoo! This is our new blog! I can not even express how tired I was of the old blog. Be sure to change your bookmarks to the new blog. I will NOT be using the old blog any more so don’t expect any action over at that one. If you would like to become a fan of our facebook page there is now a link next to the search box for this.

Now, for some news to share…

First off I would like to say a big welcome to the newest partner/photographer of Kerrie Szabo Photography. He has been my BFF since 10th grade and happens to live with me ;0). He has been a HUGE part of the behind the scenes action (built the website and the new blog) and I would consider him my “technical supervisor” of sorts. A few of you have already gotten to meet him when I bring him along on shoots to carry my gear, but now he will be doing a lot more shooting. Every single wedding we shoot will be a complete team effort between the two of us and if I may say so myself… we make a pretty good team.

Also, I need to warn everyone that I will be taking a break starting in February and won’t be available to shoot until spring. This is a much needed personal and creative break and I plan on spending it with my two most favorite little tiny people in the whole world. I have already started booking for Spring and it is filling up FAST. I never like to turn anyone down for a shoot, but there are only so many hours in the day. Saturdays are also disappearing fast this Spring with all of the upcoming weddings. If you would like a Spring session I would definitely recommend not waiting until the last second.

I also would just like to say a big humongous THANK YOU to all of my clients this past year! I could never say thank you enough for allowing me to hang out with your families and spend my days doing what I absolutely love.
